Build 22622.440 for Windows 11, according to the announcement, introduces the new Taskbar Overflow experience, the new “Open With” interface that follows the design language of Windows 11 and includes several fixes and improvements. In addition, for both build 22621.440 and 22622.440, you will find new Dynamic Widgets content on The taskbar.

Taskbar Overflow

Starting with this flight, build 22622.440 introduces the Taskbar Overflow feature (previously seen on build 25163), which has been designed to make it easier to switch and launch apps when you don’t have a lot of space in the Taskbar. The company explains that the Taskbar will automatically transition into this new Overflow mode when it reaches its maximum capacity. While in the Overflow mode, Taskbar will offer an entry point to an overflow menu that allows viewing the apps in one space. The overflow menu features many Taskbar behaviors, including support for pinned apps, jump lists, and an extended interface. After invoking overflow, the menu will quietly dismiss once you click outside of it or navigate to an application.

Dynamic Widgets content

This preview also introduces a new feature that allows the Taskbar to show dynamic widgets (previously seen on build 25136). In addition to the live content from the weather widget, you’ll also start to see sports, finance, and breaking news information. The company also says that the Taskbar will return to showing you the weather if you don’t interact with the content update.

Open With dialog interface

The new “Open with” dialog box returns (previously seen on build 22567) in this flight with a new interface that aligns with the new design language. Microsoft has also simplified the experience by making it possible to update your default app with just one click.

Other improvements

This preview of Windows 11 also updates the U.S. English (EN-US) handwriting model to be faster and more accurate. The Settings app now supports managing apps previously only supported from Control Panel. This includes the ability to uninstall apps that have inter-dependencies and repair and modify Win32 apps.
