The company’s plans now go back to a similar schedule we have seen with the Threshold updates back in 2015. In a new Microsoft TechNet article, the company notes that the Windows 10 Anniversary Update is the last update for 2016. However, there are “two additional feature updates expected in 2017.” While specific release dates still unconfirmed, Windows 10 Redstone 2 (RS2) will be available in early 2017. Then “Redstone 3” is expected to release in Summer 2017 — around six months after Redstone 2. One thing to keep in mind is that Windows 10 Redstone 3 won’t be a very significant update. In fact, it’s expected to be relatively smaller than Redstone 2. Microsoft is currently getting started with the development of Windows 10 Redstone 2, and internally the latest builds are being compiled with the 14900 version range. Recently, the software giant also confirms that Windows Insider Preview participant will begin receiving Redstone 2 builds in August.
