According to the announcement, build 21382 introduces High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for color-managed apps. Device Manager can now show drivers alongside devices. After a clean installation of Windows 10, the Start menu will open automatically to help you get to apps quicker. The default folder icon in File Explorer has been updated to indicate the folder has content, and the touch keyboard now uses the Segoe UI Variable font.
What’s new on Windows 10 build 21382
Here are the new features, changes, and improvements with the latest preview of Windows 10.
Color-managed apps with HDR support
Starting with build 21382, Windows 10 adds a feature that allows creative and artistic apps that use the International Color Consortium (ICC) color profiles to render accurate color and access the full gamut of an HDR capable display. If you have an app (such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom Classic, and CorelDraw), close it, right-click the app, and select the Properties option. Then in the “Compatibility” tab, under the “Settings” section, check the Use legacy display ICC color management option. Once the HDR feature is enabled, only when in HDR mode, the option will take effect.
Device Manager new sorting option
This flight also updates Device Manager with new options to view the list of hardware by drivers, type, and devices from the “View” menu. In addition, in the “Action” menu, you will find a new “Add drivers” option to add and install drivers across all applicable devices.
Start menu behavior
The Start menu does not include any new visual changes but starting with build 21382, after a fresh installation or upgrade, the menu will launch automatically upon setup completion. This should allow users to get a visual queue where to start and launch apps quickly.
File Explorer
As part of the File Explorer improvements, this update introduces a new folder icon that will indicate that the folder has contents.
Touch keyboard
Finally, the touch keyboard now uses the Segoe UI Variable font, and you may notice some icon updates.
Known issues with this flight
Alongside the new improvements, Microsoft is also pointing out several issues with build 21382, including:
The Camera app does not respect the default brightness setting set available on the new Camera Settings page. Windows Search elements no longer display correctly in the dark theme. The “news and interests” taskbar widget has an issue that may occasionally flash in the top left corner of your screen after clicking the button on your taskbar. During the upgrade and in the initial welcome screens when after first signing in after upgrading, you may unexpectedly see the text that appears to be displayed in “Times New Roman” font.

The build 21382 preview is available immediately through the Dev Channel, and it will install automatically.
