Surface Dial is a $100 Bluetooth accessory that rotates and clicks with haptic feedback and 3,600 points of precision built for Surface. With this device, you can quickly access tools and shortcuts. On image editing applications, you can manipulate images and change colors. On Windows 10, for example, basic functionalities will include adjust volume and zooming controls. Although Microsoft wants every app to include support for the Surface Dial, it’s up to developers to add the integration. Initially, when the Surface Dial releases on November 10th, these are the apps that will include support for the new device:

It’s not just for Surface, other PCs and laptops will also support the dial peripheral, but the Surface Studio is the only device that will support on-screen interaction. Microsoft is planning to update its Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 to include on-screen support, but this won’t happen until sometime next year, and we’re not even sure the functionalities it will support.
