Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 build 10586 to the Fast ring of updates to Insiders for PC. The new build doesn’t include new changes, only a number of bug fixes and a few tweaks, as the company reportedly has already signed off build 10586 as the “Fall Update”. The rumor has it that Redmond will be releasing the Windows 10 Fall Update (Threshold 2) on November 12th — however, we previously heard that November 10th will be the target, so we’re going to have to wait and see. Early this week, the software giant made available the November firmware update for Surface Book and Surface Pro 4. While it’s unusual for the company to release a new firmware on the early days of a specific month, the company rolled the firmware to address a few serious issues on the new Surface devices that caused screen flickering, keyboard and trackpad issues, and to improve stability. Also, if you need to reinstall certain drivers on your Surface Pro 4 or Surface Book, Microsoft has now published the latest firmware and driver packages for both devices. Late this week, it’s been discovered that Windows 10 Fall Update will enable a feature on Intel’s Skylake processors called “Speed Shift” that allow the operating system to delegate certain tasks to the processor to control frequency and voltage, which will significantly improve battery life and responsiveness of computers, including the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book.
