The firmware changelog is dated February 28, and according to the Microsoft value indicator chart this update doesn’t have any effect on security, connectivity, compatibility, performance, or battery life. During the event the Redmond company announced the new flagship of Lumia smartphones, including the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. As the rumor suggests that Microsoft will introduce Cortana for Windows 10 in January, a leaked older version of Windows 10 already shows Cortana running on the desktop. Speaking about Cortana, this week the software giant made available its digital assistant for Windows Phone in four more European countries, including Italy, Spain, Germany, and France. Looking at the today’s tease demo at the Build developer conference the new Start menu looks like in part to the old Start menu in Windows 7 mixed with the Windows 8.1 Start screen. You have your beloved search box in be bottom-right corner, access to “All Apps”, a list of recent and pinned apps, and on the right you’ll notice a mini Start screen with live tiles (all sizes are supported) and even the new context menu seems to work in the menu....

Although tabs support in File Explorer won’t arrive this year, the default file manager application is expected to receive a bunch of improvements on Windows 11 22H2, such as context menu tweaks, OneDrive integration, and folder preview, better sharing experience, and more. Also, during a breakout session demoing changes to the Taskbar, it was spotted that Microsoft is working on a new “app folder” feature to group apps on the desktop....

Since November 2021 Update is based on the same core system files available on versions, 21H1, 20H2, and 2004, computers running the last three versions will receive the new update as a small enablement package that will install as a cumulative update without the need for reinstallation. However, it won’t happen automatically, because this is an optional update that you must install manually. On the other hand, if the device is running a version nearing the end of service (such as version 1909), then Windows 10 will eventually download and install the new version automatically....

The software giant points out that because there aren’t any more known issues, every build it works on will technically pass the criteria to roll out to Insiders. “We’re focused at this point on bug fixing and final polish, so it’s much easier for each build to get all the way through than earlier in the cycle when we’re adding big new features.” Now, it’s clear that we’re going to keep seeing more builds coming almost constantly, but the company says that it’s still deciding “how long to let each build stay with Windows Insiders so you can really exercise them and send feedback on any problems that you’re hitting....
