The lock-down mode, on the other hand, will be for businesses and it will only limit to regular updates to prevent compatibility issues with businesses configurations. The new tablet looks amazing, it’s a 12-inch with a choice up to a Core i7 processor. This news shouldn’t come to anyone as a surprise as Microsoft has already stopped offering different editions of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to manufacturers about two years ago. In the lifecycle chart, you can see October 31th as the end of sale for Windows 7 Professional and Windows 8.1. Additionally, the mainstream support for Windows 7 has already ended back in 2015. Now the good, but old operating system is in the extended support cycle, which only offers security updates....
One thing that may end up happening is that Microsoft may re-introduce the new Start menu in the Windows 8.1 “Update 1”, which is scheduled to appear in the spring 2014 time frame. Update which is also rumored to include support for smaller form factor Surface tablet. Apparently the internal name for the project is called “mini-Start”, because the new menu won’t be in full screen as the Start screen is in Windows 8....

The new Skype client isn’t meant on any way as a replacement for any of the Skype apps, instead the company is aiming to help users when they need to make a quick call from a hotel or Internet Café computer.
