The event will happen on Wednesday, September 9th at 1:00PM Eastern Time / 10:00AM Pacific Time, and even though we’re only expecting to see the iPhone 6S and Apple TV, now it seems that the event will be full of surprises. Apple will stream the event live and you can watch it here. Here’s what we know thus far:
iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus
Apple is expected to refresh its phones, but this isn’t the iPhone 7, just an iPhone 6.5, so there won’t be major design changes on the devices themselves. However, there will be a number of improvements, which for some people will be worth the upgrade, changes might include improved camera with 4K video recording, 12-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, Force Touch display, and more advanced processor.
iPad Pro
We heard about a larger Surface Pro 4 and we also heard about a bigger iPad. At the Cupertino event, the company is likely to unveil a 12.9-inch display tablet with multitasking capability and support for stylus, which might actually come included with the device — pretty much a new competitor for the Surface Pro 3 –. There is a rumor about Apple creating a keyboard accessory as well, but it’s likely to be an optional feature. Under the hood we’re probably going to see an A9 processor and 2GB of RAM, and if Apple is really caring about office users, we might also see some additional connectivity ports. If the rumors are true and Apple introduces an iPad Pro, then chances are it will release sometime in November.
iPad mini 4
Again, if rumors are correct, we might be seeing a new iPad mini. According to reports, the iPad mini 4 is supposed to be thinner and more portable, and a bit more powerful, but the design won’t change significantly.
iOS 9
Perhaps the biggest feature that will arrive in iOS 9 is multitasking, which will really benefit the iPad Pro to handle more than one application at a time, but also some other features include changes on Siri and Notification Center.
Siri goes hands-free
We’ve seen Cortana hands-free functionality on Windows 10, even Xbox One always-on voice commands, also many Android phones feature the always-on voice assistant, and now it appears that Apple is working to let Siri be listening all the time on your iPhone and respond to the “Hey, Siri” voice command, which will supposedly make it easier to get things done in the office or while in the car.
Apple TV
It’s been a long time, and today the waiting may be over for many fans, as Apple is rumored to introduce a new version of the Apple TV. While we still don’t know the full technical specs, the new set-top box will feature a faster processor, likely to be an A8 processor, more internal storage than its predecessor (8GB or 16GB), and an updated design. Siri will be arriving to the device, and the company also plans to show off a new remote with touchpad support. Pricing it’s said will start at $149.
watchOS 2
The company will be releasing a new update for its Apple Watch operating system to further enhance its capability. New customization will be available and developers will have improve access to the device resources to build better apps.
