The new experience lets you drag a window to the top of the screen to reveal the snap layouts, drop the window on top of a zone to snap it, and use snap assists to finish snapping the windows in the layout you selected. Similar to the original version of Snap layouts, the number of layouts will depend on the screen resolution, which means that you may see four or six different layouts in the drop-down....

The new interface replaces the old design when right-clicking a file and the “Choose another app” option from the “Open with” menu. The updated interface follows the same style as the rest of Windows 11 with rounded corners and semi-transparent material. Once you open the interface, you can choose the app to open the file, or you can use the option to search the computer for another app. You also get the option to open the file with the app only once, or you can set the app to the new system default for the file extension....

On Windows 11, the mobile hotspot feature allows you to share an internet connection with other nearby devices. However, after installing the update KB5014697 (build 22000.739), some users have reported connectivity problems that block devices from accessing the internet. The bug affects not only Windows 11 but almost every operating system version, including Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. Microsoft is investigating the issue, and there’s no official workaround. However, the company recommends disabling the mobile hotspot feature to mitigate the problem....

In the event Microsoft demoed “Windows 8.1 Update”, which is the official name and not Windows 8.1 Update 1, and you have been following my write-ups about the recent leaks, you pretty much know everything that’s coming: boot-to-desktop, power options, Start context menu, disk management option in PC settings, the ability to easily close and navigate apps between the Metro and Desktop environment. Looking at the number in millions seems very impressive, but looking back to Windows 7 sales, the company falls behind by 40 million as Windows 7 sold over 240 million licenses in the same 16 months period. This report comes from ZDNet.com and it also notes that Windows 8 version will start just below $100. On the other hand Windows 8 Pro will be a little more expensive, around $20 to $40 higher. Moreover, the article also points out that the current price for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system builder version is only $90 — this is about $39 less from the previous price, and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system builder version now runs about $130, which is about $50 cheaper from its previous price....

Previously we heard the idea of Microsoft trying to unify all the Windows experiences into one, some people call this vision “one Windows”. One of the features that brings the experience closer together is the Windows notification center, similar to what you see today in Windows Phone. And today, we know this feature is for sure will be included in Windows Threshold. According to a new report from Neowin, in the latest build of Windows Threshold, Microsoft has already implemented a new notification center that works in the same way the feature works in Windows Phone....

However, you’re only able to resume devices activities from your PC, but now, Timeline is coming to Microsoft Launcher for Android phones, and iPhone users will be getting the feature through a Microsoft Edge update. This means that you’ll now have the ability to pick up where you left off on your PC as well as on your phone. Though, you’ll only be able to resume activities as long as you have the app corresponding app to pick up where you left off....

On Xbox One and Xbox Series X (S), throughout November 2021, members will get Moving Out ($24.99 ERP). According to Thurrott.com, the software maker is planning to bring the TV recording functionality to Xbox One and it could happen as soon as later this year. Initially, the company said that Xbox One was designed to be an all-in-one entertainment device. At IFA 2015 in Berlin, Acer introduced to the world its first Windows 10 Mobile handset that will support the new “Continuum for Phones” feature that allows users to use a keyboard and mouse, and a secondary monitor to keep working with universal Windows apps as they would normally run on a desktop environment. During the press conference in Germany, the company showed how the feature works using the dock station, mouse and keyboard....
